about

“She used to dance” is the second single from the album “roots”, composed by jazz vocalist Miriam Kibakaya. The piece is defined by dreamy piano and a melancholic melody on the violin accompanied by soft sound textures in the background. The melody stands alongside elements of noise, creating a soft dissonance meant to embody the ache of longing towards the past. The piece has an airy chill that takes your mind to the Northern hemisphere and the Nordic jazz scene.

Recorded by Jo Ranheim in Øra Studio in 2022, mixed by Kyrre Laastad, mastered by Karl Klaseie, and released by Jazzland Recordings.
